The MCC played a very young Palace Shield XI yesterday at a very sunny Flyled CC

The MCC won the toss and elected to bat.

We made a very good start and took 3 wickets with only 40 on the board.

But two Premier League batters from Didsbury & Westhoughton showed some quality batting

Scoring 80 and 112 respectively. We did not help ourselves by dropping a few catches.

The MCC declared at 250 for 4.

We started very well with young Joe Pearson of Garstang (28) & Matt Stevenson of Vernon Carus (45) taking us to 70 before the first wicket fell.

We then lost some momentum and wickets fell regularly until Alex Rhodes (Great Eccleston) hit a powerful (44) aided by Will Vause of Longridge (23)

The Palace Shield youngsters acquitted themselves very well but ended 170 all out.

A beautiful day, well hosted by Fylde CC
