Chorley beat Leyland in a thrilling game to win the Loxham Cup Final yesterday.

Leyland Captain Ian Farrington won the toss and elected to bat.

With the amount of rainfall over the weekend BAC(ee) Preston had done a superb job in getting the ground fit.

Progress was slow due to the wet outfield, however, Farrington anchored the innings with 58 runs.

Excellent bowling by Kyle Dixon with 4 for 27 and Joe Barker 3 for 17 restricted Leyland to a total of 118 for 9.

Leyland started extremely well taking the first 4 Chorley wickets for 17 runs

With 2 wickets apiece for Michael Birchall (2 for 15)  & Joe Shackleton (2 for 21)

However, a match-winning inning of 65 not out from Joe Tiffin ably supported by Adam McCullagh (18)

and Joe Barker with 19 not out saw Chorley home in the 39th over.

Man of the match awarded by two excellent umpires Peter Tuson and Adrian Darlington went to Joe Tiffin.

An exemplary effort by BAC(ee) Preston in getting the game on, plus tremendous hospitality.
